Salvatore J. Sicuso holds the distinction of being a board certified workers’ compensation expert. He has practiced since 1991 in the workers’ compensation field, representing claimants, self-insured employers, uninsured employers, employer funds and carriers. As an member in good standing of the Florida Bar, Mr. Sicuso is licensed to practice in the Northern, Middle and Southern District Courts of Florida. In addition to his trial work, he has represented his clients in the First District Court of Appeal.
Mr. Sicuso is a certified instructor in Workers’ Compensation by the Department of Insurance and has served as an instructor at the annual Workers’ Compensation Trial Advocacy Seminar since 1997. Mr Sicuso was President of the Friends of 440, Inc., an organization comprised of attorneys, judges, doctors and insurance adjusters who are all involved in the promotion of social, educational and charitable causes connected with the Workers’ Compensation system in Florida. He was a Friends of 440 Honoree In 2004, after his three years as president, and is presently on the Board of Directors of the 440 Scholarship Fund.
Mr. Sicuso’s expertise has led to two major landmark decisions. In Gulbrandsen
v. FCC!. a trial decision resulted in the denial of approximately one million dollars of benefits. The subsequent First District Court of Appeal decision limited employer provided transportation exposure under current law and affirmed the
Judge’s denial of benefits.
The trial decision in Holden v. FCCI resulted in the denial of approximately one million dollars of benefits.
